On the altiplano the night is what counts: June and July drop below freezing easily. April and September give clear skies over the lake without that extreme cold.
The route stays around 3,800 m above sea level. If you are coming from the coast, it is usual to spend a day or two acclimatising first: walk slowly, drink plenty of water and leave the alcohol for later. Tell us your itinerary and we will adjust the pace of the first day.
