Arequipa enjoys sun almost year-round. Only the short January–March rains are worth avoiding, as they can complicate the road to the Colca.
The route stays around 2,335 m above sea level. If you are coming from the coast, it is usual to spend a day or two acclimatising first: walk slowly, drink plenty of water and leave the alcohol for later. Tell us your itinerary and we will adjust the pace of the first day.
